Yesterday Bishop Paul presented Bishopric Medals to Mrs Julie Robinson and Sgt George Vesi in recognition for their support to the Catholic British Forces Community in Germany.
Julie has for over the last year been working alongside Fr Ian Evans as the Chaplain’s Branch BFG Drawdown Officer. Before Bishop Paul presented her with the medal Fr Ian explained that without Julie’s hard work the drawdown would not have gone as smoothly as it has done. She has been tireless in tracking down the origin of many of the items donated to the Garrison Churches and where necessary finding new homes for them.
George a member of the Adjutant General’s Corp SPS. Saw an opportunity to help the Catholic Community far beyond British Forces Germany. While many of the items from the Garrison Churches that had been closed due to the drawdown had been found homes. Many had not. George grasped saw this as an opportunity to help the Catholic Community back home in Fiji. Through his efforts and often a personal cost to him he has managed to raise the money needed to ship the various fixtures and fittings back to Fiji.
