On 30 May 2019, the 90th Anniversary of the founding of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Memorial Church, Catterick Garrison, will be commemorated with Mass, celebrated by the Right Reverend Paul Mason, Bishop of the Forces. From its inception, the church was intended as a national Catholic Memorial Church, for all Catholic Army and RAF personnel who fell in the Great War.
This anniversary provides an opportunity to raise awareness of its existence, renew its uses, and celebrate Catholic life in the Armed Forces. It is hoped a new memorial side chapel will be dedicated, to the Sacred Heart and All Souls, and a specially commissioned work of art unveiled.
Our aim, in marking this anniversary, is to re-dedicate the church’s primary purpose, as a national centre of Catholic military remembrance. It is also to foster means of renewing our universal Catholic mission to, and within, the Forces, both now and in the decades to come. Invitations and further information will soon be forthcoming.
Please save the date and come along.
